Why is Krishna connected to the Number 8?

Have you NOTICED...

The number 8 permeates through Krishna's life?

Krishna was the 8th avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Krishna's birthday (typically) falls around the 8th day of the 8th month of the year.

Krishna was the 8th child of Vasudeva and Devaki.

Krishna had 8 main wives.

...and had 10 kids with each of them, resulting in 80 kids.

Krishna lived until he was 125 years old (1 + 2 + 5 = 8).

The Maha Mantra has 16 words (a multiple of 8):

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

So... why the number 8? I wish I knew! Some sources state it's because in numerology, the number 8 represents infinity, but it doesn't make sense to me since that's only according to the number 8 written in English. In Devanagari, the number eight is written as:

८
