Each Hindu God and Goddess has a vahana, an animal that serves as a vehicle. So how exactly did Laxmi Devi select hers, Uluka, the owl? Well, since we can't say with certainty, we turned to our imagination.

Laxmi's Diwali Dream Team is the story of recognizing one's worth and their hidden talents, and shining light on those who might be too scared to speak up for themselves. A great reminder not only during Diwali, but year around.

Conceptualized, written and illustrated by three South Asian women -- all spanning from different countries -- there is no better way to diversify your bookshelf than by inspiring  your little global citizen with this story.

Each page is illustrated in vibrant colors and rhymes, making it a fun read for both parents and kids alike. Pair the book with the matching plush Laxmi  Devi for interactive storytelling time!

"This brand has been absolutely essential to my daughter. As a white woman who married a Hindu man this is a great brand/teaching toy that has brought a lot of joy to a biracial household. The toys and books are for my daughter but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t read them all and learned something myself."

  • "I saw the Hanuman toy with a young child at the local temple and instantly fell in love with the cute design and concept of the toy. I decided to gift the mini bundle to my newborn nephew, and he loves it! The toys are so cute and help introduce our culture to the younger generations in an organic way. My mom back home also loved them so much that I gifted the full bundle for her Golu collection she displays during Navaratri."

  • " Since ordering a Hanuman toy for my daughter a few years ago, there hasn’t been a day she hasn’t slept with it. She loves it so much and brings it on all our trips, everywhere. The toy is just so cute and my daughter has fallen in love with Hanuman, the God, ever since. She now calls him her ‘favorite’ God. I would say that she also feels very safe and protected with her Hanuman toy around. It’s wonderful how Modi toys has made God so ‘accessible’ and ‘approachable’ to children. "

Quality could have been a little better

Thanks for sharing! I agree that there is always room for improvement with everything!

Loved the story not so much the quality of the book

I love all the stories to this collection of books, but unfortunately the quality of the book is not the same as the previous three. I know this was to be expected and was reflected in the price, but after paying for shipping, the book was still not cheap enough for the quality. The book arrived already warped and the images a bit faded. I give it 4 stars because I still love the story, but not sure if I would give this as a gift or recommend it to someone to be their first modi toy item. I am afraid if I did that they would not want to buy any of the other items which are of better quality.

Love the story...but...

My daughter is obsessed with the story of Lakshmi MA and finding her owl vahana. But as was mentioned before we bought it, the physical quality of the book is very poor. I hope it will last for my daughter as she sometimes tends to be a but rough with her books...mind you, she's 2.5. But otherwise, everything else - the story, the illustrations, the colours, etc. - are.great!!

Loved the story and images!

I loved the book! The story and the images were super cute and my son loves them!

The only downside is the paper quality - the layers of pages were separating from the time I received it… and my 12mo old managed to split all of the pages open entirely within a few days.

Hi Ridhima, so glad to hear you and your son love the book! Unfortunately, we are aware of this issue and here's how we recently addressed it:

The quality of the book is not what it used to be. It feels cheaper and not high quality colors as the first books such as the hanuman and Ganesh one

Hi Priyanka, you're right. Here's an announcement we recently made to address the issue we identified:
